Ministry sets deadline for security firms. В ноябре завершается срок действия временных разрешений.

The Public Guards Department (PGD) of Ministry of Interior (MoI) yesterday instructed all security companies in the country to streamline their operations by November 2010.
“At the time of issuance of the law, a one-year deadline was given a temporary permit to correct their status in accordance to the terms and conditions set up by law,” PGD director Brig Ahmed Jassim al-Jufairi said.
The Law 19 of 2009, which regulates the private security industry, was entered into the official gazette in November of 2009.
“After the deadline, no company will be allowed to undertake any security work unless it corrects its status,” Brig al-Jufairi said.
“Considering the important and vital role played by the private security companies, the law has stipulated that the director in charge of every security company applying for a licence should be a Qatari national who had formerly served in police, Armed Forces or any other military authorities. The minister is entitled to grant exception to some companies according to the reasons considered by the minister for each case,” Brig al-Jufairi added.
According to the official, the law also mandates all private security companies to specify the work they carry out in their licence application.
“Some companies have been known to offer services suited only to a private security firm at the same time offering general and cleaning services. The violations will be taken into account at the time of the renewal of the licence,” Brig al-Jufairi warned.
A licence granted to security companies is valid for a period of three years and may be extended further for a similar period after an evaluation, the official said.
“The licensing forms are available on MoI’s website and can be filled electronically,” he said.
“The department considers the application based on a company’s evaluation based on the past, and also based on the assessment reports during the temporary licence period issued for one year from the date of the law entering into force,” Brig al-Jufairi explained.

According to him, PGD conducts extensive follow-ups of private security firms through various established mechanisms.
